“And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.”
Exodus 25:40

Keyword: God has a purpose He tends to achieve through each instruction, so don’t think you can do it at your own pace and timing.

It is true that actions do not always justify a pure motive and pure motives are not always backed by right actions. At the same time God is concerned about what you do and how you do what you do. However, many are not aware of this.
For example, David had a pure motive to give God’s ark a befitting place in the King’s palace but he went about it the wrong way and innocent Uzzah was burnt alive. Had Uzzah not died, they wouldn’t have known that God was not pleased with the pattern, because the ark was meant to be carried only by the priests but David used a new cart driven by able bodied men. (2 Samuel 6:6 -7) “And when they came to Nacon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled and shook it. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for touching the ark, and he died there by the ark of God.”

The same goes for obeying instructions and our services and offerings to God. Timing, pace and pattern are very important to the Spirit of God. He has a purpose He tends to achieve through each instruction, so don’t think you can do it at your own pace and timing.
God is also concerned with how you give your offerings. At any point of giving, what moves God is the state of your heart because He is more interested in the heart than in the quantity of givings. He is primarily interested in your heart, that your offerings to Him are born out of love and honour to Him as your Lord and master. You cannot give to what you don’t love and true love is reflected by the value of what you give. Love is a function of the heart.

It is not enough to perform an assignment or fulfill your obligations to God, you must ensure you follow His ways, patterns and ordinances. Only by so doing will you reap the full benefits of your obedience to His instructions. “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:” Isaiah 28:10
God values His patterns and ways such that He rejected Saul as King when he failed to follow His instructions to destroy the Amalekites to the letter. “And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed. Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD…..And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. (1 Samuel 15:18-23).
God’s pattern will always be the best course for you to take!

PRAYER
When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His word, what a glory He sheds on our way. While we do His goodwill, He abides with us still and with all who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey. I choose today, Lord, to consciously and diligently obey your instructions and follow your set patterns for my life in the name of Jesus. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY
Hebrews 8:5
“Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.”

Isaiah 28:13
