NUMBERS 16:9-10Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them. And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?”

KEYWORD: You must be careful in your thoughts, speech, and actions, especially when dealing with spiritual matters or assignments.

Is it a small thing when God singles you out for a unique purpose or assignment? Do you sometimes feel that in choosing you, He made a mistake or acted randomly? Have you paused to consider that His decision to choose you is deeply intentional and significant. God, being great and mighty, never makes a mistake. Everything He does is intentional and well thought out. In choosing you as His own to do ministry with Him, He has bestowed upon you a great honour, and it matters that you understand this. It’s also important to understand that God determines both the call and the method of its fulfilment. Leaning on your own ideas or understanding, no matter how appealing they may seem, cannot replace the specific path He has ordained for you. Trust in His infinite wisdom, align yourself with His plan, and walk confidently in the calling He has entrusted to you.

The opening scripture was a statement Moses made to Korah in the Bible when he sought the office of the priesthood instead of working as a Levite as God had originally decided for him. Korah felt that what Aaron could do, he also could do. He looked upon Aaron as a normal man and disregarded the fact that he didn’t take that office upon himself but was specifically chosen by the Lord. He thus challenged Moses, feeling he could function in the same capacity. If you read to the end of the chapter, you will see how God dealt with him eventually. He provoked the Lord to anger and condemned his lineage.
You must be careful in your thoughts, speech, and actions, especially when dealing with spiritual matters or assignments; hence you end up like Korah did, despising the office God had chosen for him and coveting instead what was not his to covet. In this season, be mindful of how you regard those whom God has called to specific offices of ministry. Don’t look at them with physical eyes and make fleshly conclusions about them or their offices. Understand that God decides and has the final say, especially when it has to do with spiritual matters. Approach your own office with reverence and do it with diligence, seeking only to please God and honour Him with your service. I pray for you, that the Lord will strengthen and keep you in all humility and find you worthy of all He has called you to do, in Jesus’ name. Amen!

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I receive the grace to value and appreciate the call You have placed on my life and the lives of others. I won’t disdain it or seek what I know is clearly not your decision for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

HEBREWS 5:4
“And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.”
2 CORINTHIANS 10:12
“For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”
