EPHESIANS 4:23-24 “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
KEYWORD: A life lived in holiness begets so many blessings and favours.
Holiness is a must for every one of us who has become a member of God’s family. It is not negotiable, and we are not to play down how much importance Jesus attaches to it. It was how He comported Himself while on earth, and we must know that it was one of the secrets to staying on top and above every malicious attention directed towards Him. To therefore walk in this holiness that God desires of you, there must be a renewing in the spirit of your mind, meaning that God’s words must cloak your heart thoroughly and be the guiding motive for everything you do. We are new men in Christ and have received the ability to walk on this path of righteousness and holiness.
God wants it to be a daily consciousness in our minds that holiness is achievable and can be reflected in our actions if we make up our minds to deliberately work at it. Despite what is prevalent in our world today, we can actually set the standard if we engage fully in living holy lives. If we, as Christians, make it the norm never to do anything outside of God’s stated principles, we will cause the unbelievers to sit up and take notice of our differences. A life lived in holiness begets so many blessings and favours. It offers us peace of mind and the continuous indwelling of joy in our spirit. This will be because we’ve made ourselves a true temple of the Lord where He can reside happily.
In the same manner that a person seeking to moderate his or her size goes on a steady diet and exercise routine to maintain a body that will eventually turn back to dust, we should also carefully cultivate our spirits in holiness. We must abhor sin and evil in any form. We must put it away from our lives and not permit people around us to feel that we are comfortable when they deliberately go against God’s words. Follow peace with all men, but let them know your stand on godly principles. It should not be adjusted for anyone so that Satan doesn’t have room to come in and cause havoc around you. Be holy as God is holy, and do all you can to sustain it with the help of the Holy Spirit. Glory to God!
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I will be careful to maintain the lifestyle of holiness you’ve called me to live. I set my standards with your principles that have been clearly outlined for me in your Word in Jesus’ name. Amen.
