DON’T LOSE YOUR GLORY (I)

2 KINGS 2:1–2 (KJV) “And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.”

KEYWORD: Opportunities for transfer, elevation, and increase often come quietly and leave quickly.

Have you ever wondered who took over the office of Elisha when it was time for him to leave the earth? I am almost certain you have. When Elijah was about to depart, Elisha did something audacious and compelling, and because of it, he received a double portion of Elijah’s Spirit. The Scriptures show that Elijah singled out Elisha by the instruction of the Lord to be his successor. Elisha obeyed faithfully, following his master to the very end, and in doing so positioned himself to receive the glory that came as he beheld Elijah departing in a chariot of horses.
Notice this carefully: Elisha had a choice. He could have stayed back and missed his moment, yet he pressed on to Jordan and made his request known to Elijah. He understood that following the call required sacrifice, persistence, and a determination to excel. He refused to settle for mediocrity or be swayed by the opinions of others who sought to deter him. Because of this steadfastness, he was able to witness the chariot of horses carry Elijah away and receive a double portion of the Spirit.
This leads to an important question for us today. Who will be chosen next to inherit the double portion of Elisha’s Spirit? The secret does not lie merely in who is next in line, but in who is willing to stay, to follow closely, and to pay the price of pursuit. It is about desire that refuses to be distracted, hunger that does not settle for proximity without participation, and sensitivity that can discern divine moments when heaven is opening.
Many walk with the anointed, yet few press in far enough to receive what rests upon their lives. Opportunities for transfer, elevation, and increase often come quietly and leave quickly. If you are not alert, you may witness a moment meant to change your life and still miss it. This year, will you be spiritually awake and responsive to your season, or will familiarity, delay, or hesitation cause the glory God has prepared for you to pass by? The choice is yours, and what you choose will determine whether you step into inheritance or remain a spectator of another man’s portion. Shalom!

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, today I realize that I have a choice to make: to recognize my hour of change and not miss it when it comes. Holy Spirit, help me discern Your call and perceive the blessings and glory You are ready to release to me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

2 KINGS 2:11–12 “And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.”
2 KINGS 2:14 “And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.”
