2 CORINTHIANS 2:14: “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.”
KEYWORD: Being born of God, not of blood nor of the will of man, we have been raised and seated in a position of assured triumph.
Many of us have seen movies, heard stories, or read accounts of generals and armies whose very presence struck terror into the hearts of their opponents. That fear often stemmed from the realization that defeat was already inevitable. No matter how fiercely they fought, they were met with certain loss. One can almost imagine the recurring thought in their minds: “Are we truly attempting to break down a reinforced wall with our bare fists?” Such efforts are futile, for fists alone cannot bring down a fortified structure.
This is precisely how God describes us, His church, today. We are fortified and reinforced by Him on every side. Satan and his cohorts may plot, scheme, gather forces, or raise altars, yet the truth remains unchanged: our victory in Christ is sure and settled. Being born of God, not of blood nor of the will of man, we have been raised and seated in a position of assured triumph. This is a profound and heart-strengthening truth that the church is called to meditate upon.
Yet, many believers become so consumed with the daily challenges of life that they forget our victory is not something we are striving to attain; it has already been accomplished on the cross and sealed by the resurrection of Christ. We are therefore called to rejoice and allow the joy of the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with this consciousness: we have already prevailed. The victory is ours, and it is the enemy who ought to tremble, knowing that no scheme, plot, or attack can overthrow us. Look to the testimony of King David and see that the God who preserved him through every battle is the same God faithfully strengthening and upholding us today. Shalom!
PRAYER:
Thank You, Jesus, for the assurance of my foregone victory in You. Thank You for reinforcing me on every side and seating me in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. With You, Father, all things are mine, and I can continue to run my race in joy and triumph always. Hallelujah!
