PASTOR MARTINS OMONUA
JOSHUA 3:3 “And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.”
KEYWORD: Trust in the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit, believing that His plans for you are of good and not of evil, and to give you an expected end.
If we take a sincere and comprehensive survey of the lives of different Christians, comparing those who allow God to go first before making a move with those who rush ahead without Him, there will be a striking difference. What will that difference reveal? It will show that those who allow God to lead experience swifter victories, divine guidance, and escape hidden traps that could have ensnared them. On the other hand, those who fail to put God first often find themselves struggling, facing unnecessary battles, and eventually asking themselves the age-old question: “What if I had waited on God?”
Nothing is as frustrating as realising that a better option was available, yet out of impatience or self-reliance, one chose the wrong path and ended up with regrets. The Israelites, on the verge of entering the Promised Land, first had to cross the River Jordan—a seemingly impossible task. Joshua, newly appointed as their leader, understood the weight of the moment and sought the Lord’s direction. In response, God gave explicit instructions: the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant, a symbol of His presence, were to step into the Jordan first.
The people were commanded to move only when they saw the ark go ahead. This was not just a ritual; it was a declaration of their trust in God’s leadership. They packed up camp and followed without hesitation, acknowledging that only by His presence could they safely reach their destination. Are you willing today to let God take the first step in your decisions, plans, and pursuits? His way is always the best, and when He leads, victory is assured! Its time to recognize and put God at the forefront of your affairs. Trust in the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit, believing that His plans for you are of good and not of evil, and to give you an expected end. Surrender fully, walk in faith, and watch Him lead you into His perfect will! Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, today I acknowledge the importance of allowing You to go before me in all things. I submit to Your leadership and choose to follow Your direction in every area of my life. Guide me, and I will follow, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
FURTHER STUDY:
Joshua 3:15-17
“And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,) That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho. And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.”
