PASTOR MARTINS OMONUA
1 Corinthians 14:18 (LEB) I give thanks to God that I speak with tongues more than all of you.
KEYWORD: The more you yield to the Holy Ghost, the more He expresses Himself through you and begin to speak and show you things which the natural mind can not comprehend.
There is a vocabulary of the Spirit—a divine language that facilitates deeper fellowship with the Father as we journey in the Christian faith. It’s the language of the Spirit that the host of heaven understands apart from the Word, which is why no man in his human mind can understand it except interpretation is given by the Holy Spirit. The question is, can one increase his spiritual vocabulary, and how? The answer is yes because God expects our spiritual vocabulary to increase always and not stay in the same tongues as usual. Firstly, you increase your spiritual vocabulary, which is speaking in tongues during the course of prayer. As you pray in the Spirit, sometimes new tongues are stirred within your spirit. If you don’t pay attention to it, you would not know, which is why we always encourage men to be disciplined and focused while praying.
Some people find it easier to concentrate when they close their eyes or lift their hands in prayer. So whatever position makes you disciplined and focused in prayers, do it because a lot may be happening in the realm of the spirit that you might not just be aware of. There are also some dimensions of the spirit you can’t enter until your tongues are loose from the usual ones. There is another dimension of speaking in tongues in prayers that is called groaning in the spirit. (It’s a kind of prayer where words are not uttered but sounds of short words like someone groaning in pain.) John 11:33, 38. As you meditate on God’s Word, listen to teachings, and receive new revelation, fresh tongues can well up from within. Sometimes, without realizing it, you begin to speak new tongues in response to the light that dawns in your spirit. This can happen anywhere—whether in church, in your car, office, at home, convenience, park, etc.
When you also worship the Lord in songs of worship or praise in revelation of His personality, word, and ability, and what He has done, you can only burst out in new tongues of praise or thanksgiving. Hallelujah. Even if you find yourself in a place where speaking out loud isn’t convenient, in that situation whisper those tongues under your breath. Never suppress the flow of the Spirit within you! never be shy or afraid to yield to the Holy Ghost. The more you yield, the more the Holy Spirit expresses Himself through you and begin to speak and show you things which the natural mind can not comprehend. At that moment, victory begin to well up inside of you over the situations or things you are praying for and also strength will be released upon you to face each day with so much joy and victory. Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for endowing me with the wonderful benefits of speaking in tongues. I also thank you for the refreshing and inspiration it brings to my spirit. I constantly improve my spiritual language as I spend more time in worship, prayer, meditation, and study of Your word in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
