HEBREWS 1:3 “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”
KEYWORD: Jesus is the brightness of God’s glory, so looking unto Him is looking unto God.
The phrase “the word of His power” holds far deeper meaning than many realize. If we could fully grasp the writer’s intended message in the opening scripture, we would begin to understand the magnitude of what has been given to us. Jesus is the brightness of God’s glory, so looking unto Him is looking unto God. He embodies the full majesty of God’s essence, enabling Him to command with authority, witness instant obedience, and bring the divine to full manifestation on earth. As the physical expression of God’s Word—the very force through which all visible and invisible things were created—Jesus now reigns with supreme authority.
In scriptures, we see Jesus making decrees and seeing them established. We see him performing miracles that the world had never seen before and that confounded the normal human mind. With a simple word, He commanded demons to leave many and created things with ease.
After Jesus’ death, the disciples, confused and afraid, returned to their former fishing profession, abandoning the higher calling of fishing for men (soul-winning) to which Jesus had called them.
A striking scene unfolds after Jesus’ resurrection when He comes to the seashore and calls Peter and the other disciples to Himself. They had toiled all night and caught nothing, but on Jesus’ instruction to them to cast the net on the right side of the ship, they caught so much fishes that they were not able to draw it out. On their return, they saw fish already roasting, though there was no evident means by which it had been caught. This was their master in His evident office as the Word that creates all things. What they had toiled with physical efforts to bring about, He simply brought into being. Hallelujah! Through that action Jesus took that night, the disciples came to realise that they had not blindly followed a mere man but the Son of the Most High God.
What is that course of action you’ve set yourself on, thinking God cannot accomplish or turn around in your favour? I urge you to look to Him today and know that He can do all things. There is nothing impossible for God to do; all you need to do is to continually fix your gaze on Him and trust that He will accomplish all He is set to do with you in every season. Glory to God!
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, I thank You for opening my eyes to see who Jesus truly is. He is the Word that creates all things with ease, and I choose to embrace Him all the days of my life. I believe and accept all He says I can do through Him and in Him, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
FURTHER STUDY:
EPHESIANS 1:19-20
“And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,”
JOHN 21:9,12-13
“As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.”
