1 SAMUEL 15:22 “And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
KEYWORD: Obedience must precede understanding if manifestation is to follow.
Obedience is not just a spiritual principle, it is a covenant pathway into results with God. A man who walks in obedience walks in alignment with divine instruction, and alignment determines manifestation. King Saul lost his throne because of partial obedience. God gave a clear instruction concerning Amalek, a nation that stood against Israel in their journey from Egypt.
First Book of Samuel 15:2–3 shows us the clarity of God’s command: total obedience without negotiation. But Saul chose to obey partially. He adjusted the instruction based on his reasoning and preference. In doing so, he disqualified himself from the full expression of God’s purpose for his reign. This teaches us a strong principle: partial obedience is still disobedience in the sight of God.
As men, you must be careful not to mentally edit the instructions of God. Many times, divine instructions will not align with natural reasoning. But obedience is not validated by understanding, it is validated by trust. First Epistle to the Corinthians 2:14 reminds us that the natural man cannot properly receive the things of the Spirit of God because they are spiritually discerned.
At the wedding in Cana, Jesus gave instructions that did not appear logical. Water pots used for purification were not naturally associated with wine, yet they became the vessel of transformation. Gospel of John 2:5 reveals a key posture that unlocked the miracle: “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” This instruction is still powerful today. Obedience must precede understanding if manifestation is to follow.
Then in Gospel of John 2:8, the servants followed the instruction exactly, and the result was the best wine, revealed at the appointed time.
Many miracles in Scripture are tied to unusual instructions: A fisherman casting nets at an unusual time, A man washing in a river to receive healing, A widow releasing her last meal to experience provision. Often, what looks strange carries the seed of the supernatural. The instruction you are tempted to ignore may be the very doorway into your next testimony. When obedience is complete, manifestation becomes inevitable in God’s timing. My prayer for you today is for God to grant you the grace to obey Him fully, without delay, without resistance, and without negotiation. Amen.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, make me willing and obedient to every instruction You give concerning my life, especially those that will lead to great testimonies. Help me to trust You fully, even when I do not understand, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
