PROVERBS 4:5–7 “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
KEYWORD: Understanding is the ability to rightly interpret, apply, and live out the truth you have received. It is not just information, but illumination by the Holy Spirit.
More than ever before, we are living in a time filled with perversion, deception, and distortion of truth. This is an era where many will be misled, not because truth is unavailable, but because they refuse to pursue it. As a believer in this generation, you must not allow yourself to be caught in that web. There has never been a more critical time than now to know the truth of God’s Word for yourself and to walk in it with understanding.
When you do not know the Scriptures personally, you become vulnerable to deception. The Bible makes us understand that people are destroyed (perish) for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). But beyond knowledge, you must walk in understanding. Understanding is the ability to rightly interpret, apply, and live out the truth you have received. It is not just information, but illumination by the Holy Spirit. This season, do not do things merely because others are doing them. Take time to understand the “why” and the essence behind what you practice. Only then can you practice correctly and experience the blessings attached to it. When people adopt practices simply because they saw them work for someone else, it may appear acceptable, but it is not wisdom.
This becomes even more critical when you are a Christian leader. When the lives, decisions, and direction of others are influenced by your teachings and lifestyle, you carry a greater responsibility. You cannot afford to imitate without understanding. You must study, verify, and gain clarity through the Word and by the Spirit, so that what you teach is sound, balanced, and rooted in truth. This is why our walk as believers must always be anchored in the light of God’s Word and guided by the Holy Spirit. We must also understand that revelation is often received according to the posture of the heart. The same Scriptures that bring life can be misinterpreted when approached with wrong motives. This is why discernment is vital. Spiritual maturity enables you to rightly divide the Word of truth and to recognize whether a teaching is born out of truth or personal agenda.
Be intentional in your walk with God. Understand why you pray. Understand why you give. Understand why you serve, intercede, and preach the gospel. When these things are done with understanding, they are done with accuracy, honor, and sincerity before God. When this becomes your lifestyle, your service will be pure, your walk will be steady, and your life itself will become an expression of worship unto God. Shalom.
PRAYER:
Thank You, faithful King of glory, for Your mercy and grace. My walk with Your Spirit is guided by the light of Your truth. I refuse to be tossed about by every wind of doctrine because I walk in wisdom and understanding. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
PROVERBS 17:27 “He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.”
