PSALM 19:7–8 “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”
KEYWORD: When the Word becomes your standard, your relationship with God deepens beyond mere religious activity.
The Word of God is His revealed truth given to us as His sons and daughters for our daily living here on earth. It is our divine manual for life: timeless, ageless, and never outdated. The promises and revelations contained in it have been tested and proven across generations and have never failed. Indeed, the Word of God is perfect. When you give yourself to the Word, it has the power to make you wise. It prepares and equips you to be thoroughly furnished for every good work and establishes you firmly in righteousness. God is faithful to His Word and acts in consistency with it (Numbers 23:19). Therefore, walking with the Lord is only possible when your life is aligned with the light of His Word.
If all these benefits and more come from the Word of God, then wisdom demands that you make it your standard for your thoughts, actions, decisions, responses, and relationships. However, this only becomes a reality when you intentionally train your spirit and your senses with the Word. This is achieved through consistent study, meditation, and practical application of what you receive, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As this becomes your lifestyle, you begin to develop spiritual discernment; the ability to distinguish between good and evil, righteousness and unrighteousness, not by human standards, but by God’s truth. This is what Hebrews 5:14 speaks of: those who, by reason of use, have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
When the Word becomes your standard, your relationship with God deepens beyond mere religious activity. You begin to know Him intimately as you walk in obedience to His Word. Your growth and maturity in the faith accelerate, and your responses to life are no longer driven by emotions, but by truth. The Word begins to shape your consciousness. You become more aware of your identity in Christ, and that awareness influences how you think, speak, and relate with others. Your life takes on a new direction, governed by divine peace, love, and a sound mind, even in the midst of chaos, fear, and uncertainty. This is the true pattern for living the Christian life: a life built, sustained, and governed by the Word of God. Shalom.
PRAYER:
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your grace, love, and mercies in my life. From today and throughout this year, I make the Word of God the standard for every area of my life. I choose to live according to Your truth and walk in the light of Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
