1 CORINTHIANS 6:19–20 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
KEYWORD: God is a loving Father, and every instruction He gives is for your preservation, growth, and fulfillment.
We live in a society today where many young people desire to step into adulthood as quickly as possible so they can, in their own words, break free from parental control and gain the freedom to live life however they please, without accountability. What they often fail to realize is that freedom without restraint or accountability eventually leads to bondage. True freedom is not the absence of control, but the presence of proper guidance and responsibility. As you grow, you come to understand that life itself is built on accountability, where every decision carries consequences. This same principle applies to us as believers. Our lives are not truly ours, because we did not create ourselves. It is common to hear people say, “It is my life, and I can do whatever I want,” but such a mindset does not align with Scripture. The Bible makes it clear that we were bought with a price, the precious blood of Christ, and therefore we belong to God.
When you gave your life to Christ, it was not merely a confession; it was a surrender. He did not only become your Savior, but also your Lord. This means that your life is now entrusted into His hands as a stewardship. The Scripture says in Colossians 3:4 that Christ is our life. Therefore, your desires, decisions, and direction must now be aligned with Him. Because of this, we cannot afford to live carelessly or according to our own will. Instead, we must continually seek to please the One who has called us. As our opening Scripture declares, we are to glorify God in our bodies and in our spirits, which belong to Him.
Just as a teenager may sometimes feel restricted when corrected by parents, though such correction is for their good. Many believers also misunderstand God’s instructions. They may feel as though God is trying to control or limit them. But this is far from the truth. God is a loving Father, and every instruction He gives is for your preservation, growth, and fulfillment. When you truly understand this, obedience will no longer feel like a burden, but a privilege. You will begin to live intentionally, making decisions that reflect your devotion to God. Your life becomes a testimony of surrender, discipline, and alignment with His will.
This was the posture of Apostle Paul, who declared that to live is Christ and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). He counted all things as loss that he might gain Christ. This is the life God calls us into: a life fully yielded, fully surrendered, and fully devoted to Him. Shalom.
PRAYER:
It is a great honor and privilege to know that I am owned and sustained by God Almighty Himself and to be counted among His beloved. Thank You, Father, for the grace to live for You all the days of my life, bringing glory and honor to Your holy name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
