KEYWORD: As a believer, your greatest labour is not merely the pursuit of success but the cultivation of your heart, for out of it are the issues of life.
Has someone ever promised you something and you found it difficult to believe because it sounded too good to be true? Surprisingly, this is how some believers relate to God’s promises. They believe in God’s ability, yet they struggle to believe that God can accomplish His Word through them and in them. For instance, as a believer, you know and believe without any doubt that God can raise the dead. But do you believe that He can work through you according to His Word? Not everyone readily accepts this because they have not yet come to the point where God’s Word has gained full influence over their minds, thoughts, and actions. This is where the maturity of the mind becomes essential.
As a believer, your greatest labour is not merely the pursuit of success but the cultivation of your heart, for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23 teaches us that the direction of our lives is greatly influenced by the condition of our hearts. Your thoughts shape your responses, and your responses reveal the true condition of your heart. When circumstances do not turn out as you expected, your reaction often exposes your level of spiritual maturity. This is why Scripture says that if you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. If your mind is continually filled with defeat, fear, or limitation, those thoughts will eventually find expression in your life. But if your mind is filled with God’s truth and His possibilities, you will approach life with faith, confidence, and expectation.
The Apostle Paul continually prayed that believers would grow into spiritual maturity and become fully persuaded of all that Christ had accomplished for them. Romans 12:2 instructs us not to conform to the thinking patterns of this world but to be transformed through the renewing of our minds. This transformation takes place as we consistently study, believe, and apply God’s Word. A renewed mind is a mature mind. Such a mind is able to discern God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will. In other words, inward transformation through the renewal of the mind produces outward transformation in the way we live, speak, and walk with God. Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the new life You have given me in Christ. I ask that You continually renew my mind through Your Word. Let every wrong pattern of thinking be replaced with Your truth. Help me to grow into spiritual maturity so that my thoughts, words, and actions will always reflect Your nature. Grant me wisdom, discernment, and unwavering faith to walk in the fullness of Your will. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
