2 CHRONICLES 16:8-9 “Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand. For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.”
KEYWORD: You will always make mistakes and lose out on God’s favour and grace when you choose to align with people who do not honour and fear God.
How painful it must be to lose out on a victory that could have easily been yours, simply because you chose the wrong option or person for counsel or help. The “had I known” or regret that floods your mind when you realise your own folly or hasty decisions have cost you what God had intended for you are almost unimaginable. If you read through the entire chapter of the opening scripture, you’ll see how King Asa, confronted with an imminent attack from the king of Israel, chose to seek help from the king of Syria instead of turning to the Lord. Even worse was using special items from the temple to seek the help of a heathen. He did not think to ask God for help but turned to another option, and while it may seem that he obtained victory against the army that had been sent to attack him, he lost a greater victory that could have come to him if he had depended on God.
You will always make mistakes and lose out on God’s favour and grace when you choose to align with people who do not honour and fear God. There is no way these people will guide you into experiencing victories that last. The help they seemingly offer is like a chameleon, prone to change at any instant and turn upon you like a viper. When you bring yourself under those who were supposed to be under you, you devalue yourself and make people unable to see or witness the power and might of your own God. King Asa went for help to Syria instead of God and lost the opportunity to win and subdue them in battle. God is able to give you victory at all times when you turn to Him for counsel or help. King David was one person who never lost a battle in his lifetime because he always enquired from the Lord before making a move. In this season, we cannot afford to be deceived by false offers or the generosity of the ungodly; we must turn to the Lord alone, who sees all and knows all. His counsel to you will never lead you astray. Keep your heart on Him in perfection, and His help will be readily available at all times and seasons. Glory to God!
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your help; that is indeed what we need for true victories that last. I make up my mind to seek your help alone so that I may prevail and overcome in all my life endeavour in Jesus name, Amen.
