COLOSSIANS 1:10 “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
KEYWORD: Seeking God’s approval is not a one-time event; it is a lifestyle of intentional dependence, prayerful consideration, and obedience.
The Scriptures teach us that “there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of destruction” (Proverbs 14:12). This entails that the human mind is limited and can genuinely walk in error without realizing it. This is why you must not depend on your own understanding, but in everything, submit to God, seek His approval, and trust in His judgment with all your heart. Submission to God is more than obedience; it is aligning your will, your plans, and your desires with His. When you seek His approval first, you position yourself for blessings, favor, and fruitfulness in every endeavor, and you avoid the unnecessary pitfalls that come from following your own reasoning or the counsel of others who do not walk with God.
Let’s consider King David as an example. He had the noble intention of bringing the Ark of God back to Israel. As honorable as his intentions were, it took the death of Uzzah for him to realize that God was displeased. Was David wrong to want to bring back the Ark? No, of course not. But he went about it his own way, without submitting and seeking God’s guidance. The Ark was meant to be carried by the priests, not on horses and chariots.
He learned from this experience. Later, when he desired to build a house for God, he first inquired of the Lord through his prophet, and God gave him precise instructions. Imagine if he had gone ahead in his own way, without seeking approval, his offering would not have been worthy, because he was a man of blood.
What step are you contemplating? What major decisions lie ahead in this next season of your life? What offering or project do you desire to honour God with this year? What goals have you set for yourself? Now is the time to bring them before God in prayer, seeking His counsel and direction. This is a key principle in walking with the Lord. When you do this, He will surely give the expected end. Glory to God! Remember, seeking God’s approval is not a one-time event; it is a lifestyle of intentional dependence, prayerful consideration, and obedience. The more you practice this, the more your life will be aligned with His will, your work will be fruitful, and your steps will be guided in peace, favor, and lasting impact.
