1 JOHN 5:20 “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
KEYWORD: True understanding produces humility. It causes a man to turn away from pride and self-deception, and to walk in sincerity before God.
What truly keeps a man standing firm, strong, and obedient to God’s standards despite the challenges that come his way? What makes a man refuse the suggestions of the enemy and remain steadfast? What causes a man to hold on to God even when circumstances seem to suggest otherwise? It is true understanding! True understanding is not a collection of information or mere knowledge. It is insight that comes from the Lord and establishes a man upon a foundation that is not easily shaken. It gives clarity concerning life and direction in moments of uncertainty. True understanding enables a man to discern beyond what is visible. He is not controlled by what he sees or hears, but he weighs all things in the light of God’s truth. In the place of fellowship with the Father, he receives clarity on how to respond.
Have you ever found yourself speaking too quickly in a situation where wisdom required patience? There are moments when a man of understanding chooses to pause, seek the Lord, and respond with wisdom rather than pressure. A man of understanding is not driven by haste. He seeks direction and moves with intention. As revealed in 1 John 5:20, we have been given understanding through Christ so that we may know Him who is true. As a man grows in his knowledge of God, his discernment becomes sharper and his judgment becomes sound.
The Word of God brings light and direction. When a man yields himself to it, he is guided, corrected, and strengthened. Through this, he begins to see clearly what aligns with truth and what does not. True understanding produces humility. It causes a man to turn away from pride and self-deception, and to walk in sincerity before God.
The question is, are you a man of true understanding? Take time today to seek the Lord deliberately. Ask Him for understanding, not just answers. As you remain consistent in His Word and in fellowship with Him, your life will become established in truth, and you will not be easily shaken by the pressures of life. Choose to grow in understanding, and let your life reflect the wisdom that comes from above. Shalom.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, You are the only true God who leads a man into true understanding. I desire to stand immovable and firmly established on the solid foundation of Your Word to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
