1 JOHN 5:14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
KEYWORD: What God wants to give you is far greater than anything you think you want for yourself.
Have you ever paused to wonder what it would be like to receive the desires of God’s heart for you? Most of the time there seems to be a need and urgency to impress upon God what it is we desire for ourselves that we take out little or no time to discover what it is He really wants to release to us. We often get caught up in our own thoughts and feelings, believing that only obtaining what we desire will bring us happiness. But have you considered that what God wants to give you is far greater than anything you think you want for yourself?
His heart, filled with love, burns brightly and desires only the best for you. Now imagine how much more meaningful it would be if your prayer sounded like this: “Lord Jesus, you know me more than I know myself. You know what I truly need right now, but I ask that you give me the desires of your own heart for me.” I can assure you that you will blow God’s mind away if you do this. With such a prayer, you are making a bold declaration that you trust Him implicitly and that whatsoever He chooses for you will certainly never harm you.
It is also an affirmation that He is your God and only source. You are telling Him that your gaze will be fixed only on Him and none else. You won’t allow fleshly lusts and desires to push you into requesting for yourself what might at the outset please you but eventually cause pain. Today and henceforth, let God be your guide. Let Him decide for you, and then you wait to receive far beyond what you could ever have asked for. This is walking on a higher plane of fellowship with the Lord, and in doing so you will never go wrong. Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I know today that having You decide what to give me is the best course for my life. I, therefore, yield my wants and needs to You today to fulfil as You deem fit for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
