WHERE DOES GOD STAND IN YOUR HEART? (I)

PSALM 139:13 “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”

KEYWORD: When a man reaches the place where nothing is hidden from God, that man begins to walk in a deeper level of fellowship, guidance, and transformation.

It must be understood that there are always levels of your person that you must open to God if He is to have full command over your life. This is especially true for those who are born again. Your salvation is simply the beginning of what can either grow into a deeply intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit or remain a distant relationship with the Lord. Whether your path becomes one of intimacy or distance is entirely up to you. It is a man’s willingness to yield every part of his heart, whether gradually or all at once to God. That gives God full permission to speak into every matter of that man’s life. The more you open the chambers of your heart to Him, the more His voice becomes clearer, His guidance more evident, and His presence more tangible in your daily walk.

However, when you consistently shut off large portions of your life and refuse to open them to God, you make it difficult for Him to access you fully. By your unwillingness to remain with Him in true sincerity, He remains only your Saviour but does not become your Lord. At that point, you are still the one firmly holding the reins, yet refusing to release them. God has always desired that our relationship with Him be born out of deep love for Him, not because we were forced or coerced. He desires that an understanding of His person and His nature becomes the foundation upon which we receive His love and respond by loving Him deeply in return.

David is a clear example of someone who did not withhold any part of his heart from God. Drawn to the Lord from his youth, he learned to commune with Him with complete openness. He hid nothing from God, as we see in his famous Psalm. Psalm 139:7–8 says: “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.”
David could say this with the understanding that he lived as an open book before the Lord–One who could see, discern, and search every matter concerning him. That is the real question here: Is God allowed to discern everything about you, or not? Is your heart fully open before the Lord? When a man reaches the place where nothing is hidden from God, that man begins to walk in a deeper level of fellowship, guidance, and transformation. The more transparent you become before the Lord, the more His Spirit is able to shape your character, direct your steps, and establish His will in your life. This is the pathway to true intimacy with God. Selah.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, today I choose to be an open book before You. Help me always to see You as my Lord and not merely as my Saviour. I surrender every part of my heart to You so that You may guide me and have full command over all that I do, in the name of Jesus.

FURTHER STUDY:
PSALM 139:15–16 “My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”
PSALM 139:17–18 “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.”
