PSALM 37:7 “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
KEYWORD: Do not pressure yourself with fears Christ has already conquered on your behalf. When God says rest, He is inviting you to release the burden of outcomes into His hands and trust that His timing, His methods, and His promises are perfect.
As simple as today’s topic may sound, very few people truly know what it means to rest in the Lord. This rest is not referring to physical inactivity or passivity. Rather, it speaks of a spiritual act of trust, surrender, and unwavering confidence in the faithfulness of God. Many believers live in a state of inward tension. Though they profess faith in God, their hearts remain stressed and unsettled. They struggle to allow God prove Himself through the fulfillment of His promises because they are constantly trying to calculate outcomes, anticipate delays, and mentally control what should have been surrendered to Him.
In reality, many relate with God’s promises with a divided heart. One part believes, while another part quietly prepares for disappointment. Imagine the burden a believer carries when each day is approached with uncertainty about whether God will come through or disappoint.
That is not the inheritance of the body of Christ. God is not calling us merely to acknowledge His ability. He is calling us into settled confidence in His faithfulness, a place where trust becomes established and unshaken. This is the place of rest. Everything about us as believers this year must learn to rest in the assurance that God is with us at all times and that He will never fail those who trust in Him. We must not fret over what appears available or unavailable. We must not allow visible circumstances dictate the condition of our hearts.
Instead, we must cultivate thanksgiving, worship, and continual communion with God in every matter of life. Speak to the Lord about everything. Cast every care upon Him. Lay every concern at His feet. Allow His peace to minister to your spirit, your soul, and your body. Do not pressure yourself with fears Christ has already conquered on your behalf. When God says rest, He is inviting you to release the burden of outcomes into His hands and trust that His timing, His methods, and His promises are perfect. Rest in the Lord. Wait patiently for Him. And allow Him to carry what was never yours to bear. Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Thank You, Jesus, for giving me assured victory in You. You have made me Yours and blessed me abundantly. Help me to continually see all that You have done, are doing, and will yet do in my life. Deliver me from every form of fear and anxiety, and teach me to trust You fully in all things, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
