HINDRANCES TO PRAYERS (II)

MARK 11:25 “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

KEYWORD: If you desire to grow and go deeper with God, you must learn to respond promptly and yield to His leading.

In the place of prayer, the Spirit of God searches the heart, brings conviction, and leads a man to repentance where necessary. As you pray, there is a spiritual examination that takes place; the Holy Spirit begins to bring to your consciousness the things you must deal with: anything that may hinder your fellowship with God or obstruct what He desires to do in your life. He also reveals matters that may stand in the way of the answers you seek.
Therefore, when believers continue in bitterness, strife, and resentment, it often reflects a resistance to the dealings of the Spirit. Such attitudes grieve and quench the Spirit of God. As Ephesians 4:31 admonishes, we must put away all malice and walk in kindness, forgiveness, and love.
A man may be praying and still be dealing with offense, but true and sincere prayer will not leave him unchanged. The Spirit of God will continually nudge him toward alignment and repentance. You cannot remain comfortable in strife if you are yielding to the Spirit. Over time, He produces humility, meekness, and love within you. Even when correction is necessary, it is expressed in the right spirit and with the right motive.
Sometimes, you may have an issue with your spouse or someone close to you, and as you begin to pray, your thoughts may drift toward proving who is right or wrong. Yet in that moment, the Holy Spirit may gently prompt you to take a step of humility: perhaps to apologize or to pursue peace. Many times, it is not about proving a point, but about guarding your heart and preserving your spiritual atmosphere. Scripture teaches us, “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12:18). The Spirit understands that bitterness opens the door to further conflict, and He seeks to protect your heart from it.
Some yield to this leading, while others resist it. When a person continually ignores the promptings of the Holy Spirit, their sensitivity becomes weakened, and their spiritual growth is hindered. The Holy Spirit will not force you, but your response determines how deeply you walk with Him.
Therefore, if you desire to grow and go deeper with God, you must learn to respond promptly and yield to His leading. This is how your heart remains tender, your fellowship remains strong, and your prayers remain effective. Hallelujah!

PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the character of love that Your Spirit has produced in me. From today, I walk in advanced forgiveness. I enlarge the capacity of my heart to love and release anyone who may have acted, or may in the future act in their weakness against me. I forgive them and entrust them to Your righteous judgment. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
