OBEDIENCE PAYS (I)

1 SAMUEL 15:22 “And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice…”

KEYWORD: Obedience may not always feel convenient but it always produces alignment and results with God’s promise.

Obedience is the bedrock of walking with God. A man who walks in obedience to divine instruction walks in preservation, direction, and increase. The instructions of God are not suggestions; they are life itself. When a man yields to them, he steps into the pathway of divine covering. As written in Book of Proverbs 6:23, “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.” This shows us that obedience does not just guide a man, it preserves him.
There are seasons in life where instructions from God may not look convenient, but they are always purposeful. Many miss divine outcomes not because they did not hear God, but because they did not obey what they heard.

Let’s look at Isaac in the Bible in the Book of Genesis 26:2 “And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of…” Isaac was faced with famine, a situation that naturally demanded a reaction. In human reasoning, Egypt looked like the place of survival, provision, and relief. But in the midst of pressure, God gave him instruction: stay in the land. This was not a comfortable instruction, but it was a covenant instruction. God also reaffirmed the covenant He made with Abraham his father, showing that obedience is what carries generational blessings forward. Book of Genesis 26:3–6 shows us that Isaac obeyed, and because he obeyed, he remained in the place of blessing even in famine. What looked like limitation became the stage for divine multiplication. Obedience may not always feel convenient but it always produces alignment and results with God’s promise. Hallelujah!

PRAYER:
Father, in the name of Jesus, I receive grace to walk in consistent obedience to Your Word. Deliver me from every form of reasoning that stands against Your instruction. Give me a heart that hears You clearly and obeys You quickly without delay or resistance. I declare that my life will not miss divine direction. I walk in alignment with Your will, and I experience the blessing that follows obedience, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
