LUKE 18:1 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”
KEYWORD: Prayer prepares you for the day of adversity and strengthens your spirit against the attacks of the enemy.
Prayer is one of the most important aspects of a believer’s life. It is the means by which we communicate with God our heavenly Father and build intimacy with Him. It is in the place of prayer that we receive guidance, strength, wisdom, and spiritual growth. Jesus Himself consistently gave Himself to prayer throughout His earthly ministry. He often withdrew to pray, showing us the importance of continual fellowship with the Father. If our Lord lived a life of prayer, then prayer must become a lifestyle for every believer.
Therefore, whenever you have the opportunity to pray, take full advantage of it. Prayer prepares you for the day of adversity and strengthens your spirit against the attacks of the enemy. Your prayer life should not revolve around requests or needs alone. It should also be a place of worship, fellowship, and communion with God. It is through this intimacy that the Holy Spirit begins to shape your heart and align your thoughts with God’s will.
As you grow consistently in prayer, your faith becomes strengthened, your discernment becomes sharper, and your heart becomes more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. You begin to walk in the wisdom, peace, and comfort that come from fellowship with God.
Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things…” A prayerful believer is not easily overtaken by the enemy because spiritual mindedness produces discernment and prudence. Through prayer, God reveals His mind concerning situations and grants direction ahead of time.
This was one of the secrets of Jesus’ earthly walk. Through fellowship with the Father, He fulfilled His assignment and overcame every snare of the enemy. Likewise, as sons and daughters of God, we must continue steadfastly in prayer, following the example of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Shalom!
PRAYER:
Thank you, faithful God, for the privilege to come boldly into your throne of grace. I am a man given to the sweet fellowship of your Holy Spirit as my daily routine, that I may know you and know your glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
