JOHN 7:44-46 “And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him. Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.”

KEYWORD: Today, as you walk closely in fellowship with the Lord, no enemy can take or touch you against His will

There is something profoundly dramatic about the scenario in the opening scripture. Reading earlier verses in the chapter reveals that certain men were sent by the chief priests and Pharisees to seize Jesus as He spoke to the people. The undeniable testimonies, miraculous healings, and crowds that followed Him had become a source of great concern for the Pharisees. They were unwilling to share their position of importance and authority with anyone.
The Pharisees feared that the Romans might use Jesus’ influence as an excuse to remove them from power. To prevent this perceived threat, they sought to take Him by any means possible. High Priest Caiaphas even declared it was ‘better for one man to die than for many’ (Read John 11:49-50). Clearly, they were determined to capture and kill Jesus themselves, but God was always steps ahead of them. Why? The very men sent to apprehend Jesus ended up mesmerised. They listened to Him, left amazed, and could not bring themselves to take Him. They declared, “Never man spake like this man.”
This could only happen because the Lord touched their hearts, causing them to see Jesus with reverence instead of hatred. Expecting to encounter an ordinary man, they met someone extraordinary. Jesus, constantly yielding to His Father and speaking only what He was instructed, said precisely what those men needed to hear to calm their rage.
Today, as you walk closely in fellowship with the Lord, no enemy can take or touch you against His will. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. As you go about doing the work of the Father, do not be afraid of what the enemy can do to you, for the protection of your Heavenly Father surrounds you wherever you go. He will give you the wisdom you need to succeed and prevail in any circumstance. Glory to God!

PRAYER:
Thank You, Lord, for Your preserving grace over my life. I walk confidently each day, knowing I am guided and guarded by Your precious Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
JOHN 7:25-26
“Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?”
JOHN 11:46-48
“But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done. Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.”
