PROVERBS 25:21 “If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:”

KEYWORD: To help others is not just a responsibility; it is a privilege and a blessing.

One way to truly show that the Holy Spirit is truly at work in you is your willingness to render help to others in need, whether they are friends or enemies. This demonstrates that you are guided by the love of God and refuse to harbour enmity with anyone. Often, we try to justify why someone deserves our help before we act. But imagine if God had waited for us to merit His help and forgiveness before extending it to us. Where would we be?

God simply gave the help He knew we needed by sending His only begotten Son to die for us, rescuing us from a desperate situation. The darkness and ignorance that consume a person without the mercy of Jesus can only be described as dire. By giving us His Son, God showed us unconditional love. Now, having received His mercy, He calls us to rise higher—to extend that same mercy to others whenever the opportunity arises. To help others is not just a responsibility; it is a privilege and a blessing.

When our eyes are opened to how the Holy Spirit wants us to operate toward everyone, we experience significant spiritual growth and maturity. Who around you today needs help—whether they’ve asked for it or not? Extend the love of Christ to them and watch as barriers of fear and resentment crumble. In doing so, you magnify the name of Jesus Christ and bring glory to His kingdom as others experience His love through you. Glory to God!

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank You for teaching me the importance of helping others, even in the face of difficulty. I receive the grace to never turn away from those in need but to offer assistance that will lead them closer to You. In Your name, Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
EXODUS 23:4-5
“If thou meet thine enemy’s ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again. If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.”
ROMANS 12:20
“Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.”
