DEUTERONOMY 7:6–7 “For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:”
KEYWORD: Holiness is God’s invitation to share in His ways, reflect His character, and walk according to His Word.
God’s love for us is what sets us apart unto Himself. It is important to understand that holiness begins with God. Without His love, mercy, and grace, no man could ever walk in true holiness. Holiness is not something a person achieves merely through human effort or strong determination. It is first the work of God in the life of a man who has responded to His love.
This is why God reminded Israel that He did not choose them because they were greater, stronger, or more numerous than other nations. In fact, they were among the smallest of peoples. His choice of them was rooted in His love and covenant purpose.
When God speaks of holiness concerning His people, He is speaking of a people He has set apart for Himself. Holiness is God’s invitation to share in His ways, reflect His character, and walk according to His Word. It is not merely about outward appearance or religious activity. It is a life that has been separated unto God and continually yielded to His will.
The same principle applies to us today. We have not been called because of our qualifications, achievements, or personal righteousness. We have been called because of God’s love and mercy. Through Christ, we have been brought into a relationship with God and given the privilege of being called His own.
Therefore, never take lightly the grace of being numbered among God’s people. It is a privilege purchased by His mercy and sustained by His love. Let your life reflect the One who has called you. Refuse to embrace practices that contradict His nature and His Word. Continue to walk in obedience, humility, and love.
Whenever you find yourself surrounded by influences that pull your heart away from God, remember that you have been set apart for a higher purpose. Maintain the fellowship and unity that God’s love has made available to us, and continue to walk in holiness before Him. Hallelujah!
PRAYER:
Thank You, Jesus, for making it possible for me to be called one of God’s holy people. Thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace that have set me apart unto Yourself. Help me to walk worthy of this calling and to reflect Your nature in all that I do. I am grateful for the privilege of belonging to You and being called Your own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
