DO NOT LET THE SYSTEM DESENSITIZE YOU

COLOSSIANS 3:1-2 “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

KEYWORD: As a believer or Christian leader, no matter how many years you have been saved or serving in Christendom, do not grow familiar with the things of the Spirit.

It is natural for people to become physically desensitized or emotionally numb when exposed to certain situations repeatedly over time. Consider doctors and nurses: before their final induction into the medical field, they take an oath to save lives at all costs. Yet over time, after witnessing too much bloodshed and death, their initial compassion can dull. Similarly, teachers who have seen repeated failures may grow cold, failing to raise the generational assets they were trained for. Their hearts have been hardened by the system. As a believer, you must intentionally guard your heart, mind, and spirit against this slow erosion of sensitivity. Cultivate a posture of vigilance and compassion, remembering that your awareness, prayerfulness, and love for God and people must never grow stale. Challenge yourself daily to respond with zeal and faith, not habit or indifference.
As a believer or Christian leader, no matter how many years you have been saved or serving in Christendom, do not grow familiar with the things of the Spirit. Do not become so “knowledgeable” in the Word or prayer that you dismiss the person of the Holy Spirit in your life, or His move in your midst. No matter how many times you have heard the Word of God, remember that His Word is eternal and never outdated, and the Holy Spirit is dynamic and inexhaustible. God is the beginning and the end; every moment with Him brings fresh revelation.
Do not become so accustomed to testimonies of God’s goodness and faithfulness that you fail to rejoice and glorify Him when something new seemingly happen in your life. What may seem ordinary to you is miraculous, and every act of God deserves celebration. In essence, God is moved by hearts that are compassionate toward Him and toward humanity. Let your soul be stirred by the reality that souls are perishing and need salvation. Let love for those around you compel you to pray for their well-being in Christ. Let your service in the house of God flow from genuine reverence, revelation, and devotion, not from compulsion or habit. Choose to walk in fresh sensitivity, always responding with joy, gratitude, and awe at God’s presence and power. In doing so, your life will be a living testimony of His love, and you will inspire others to cultivate hearts that never grow cold.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your loving-kindness and abundant grace. Make me a person moved by compassion toward my environment and everyone around me. Let me pray earnestly for the good of all men and the peace of all nations, in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
1 JOHN 2:15-17 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
1 PETER 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
