ROMANS 2:5–6 “But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds:”
KEYWORD: Works that are done from a sincere heart toward God will endure and receive reward, while works done with wrong motives will suffer loss.
Most people live their lives as though everything ends here on earth. But the Scriptures continually remind us that a day is coming when every man shall stand before his Creator and give account of his stewardship. Jesus said in John 9:4, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” The night in this context speaks of a time when a man can no longer labour, whether because his assignment is completed, through age, sickness, or departure from this world.
God keeps records of the works of men. Jeremiah 17:10 says, “I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” This is why every service rendered unto the Lord must come from a heart of love, reverence, and sacrifice. Whatever is done merely for convenience or outward appearance may impress men, but it does not carry the same value before God.
The Father takes pleasure in works of righteousness that proceed from genuine love and sacrifice. The Scriptures teach that every man’s work shall be tested. This testing is not because God lacks knowledge, but to reveal the quality and nature of what has been built. Works that are done from a sincere heart toward God will endure and receive reward, while works done with wrong motives will suffer loss.
If you have understanding of this truth, you will not murmur or complain about what you do for the Lord. Rather, you will see it as a privilege to serve in His house and towards humanity. Every act of service done with gladness, humility, and reverence attracts more grace from God. There are books of remembrance and there is a day of reward. Therefore, carry out your works of righteousness with joy and excellence. God searches the heart and tries the reins. Let your service be found pleasing before Him. Glory.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the privilege to serve in the courts of the Lord and towards mankind. I carry out my works of righteousness from a heart of love, reverence, humility, and sacrifice. Let all that I do bring glory to Your name and be found acceptable before You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
