PSALM 109:3 “They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.”

KEYWORD: God does not abandon His people in the midst of opposition. He preserves them, protects them, and delivers them from the schemes of the wicked.

Many people think that because they are kind, loving, and good to others, everyone will automatically be good to them in return. Unfortunately, life does not always work that way. Sometimes, the more good you do, the more opposition you may encounter from people who do not understand you or who are uncomfortable with the light they see in you.

There are people who become suspicious of kindness because they have rarely experienced genuine love. Others may become offended because the character they struggle to display is what you freely exhibit through the grace of God. Some may even become jealous when they see God’s favour, peace, and goodness at work in your life. As strange as it sounds, people can dislike you for reasons that have nothing to do with anything you have done wrong.

David understood this reality. He said, “They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.” The righteous are sometimes opposed simply because they stand for what is right. Jesus Himself was hated without a cause. Therefore, do not be surprised when you encounter resistance despite walking uprightly before God.

This is why prayer must never be neglected. Prayer keeps you strong, sensitive, and protected. It helps you maintain a heart free from bitterness, resentment, and hatred toward those who oppose you. When the fruits of the Spirit are flourishing in your life, you are able to respond to hostility with wisdom and grace. You refuse to allow the actions of others to corrupt your heart because you know God is fighting for you.

Psalm 97:10 says, “Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.” What a comforting promise. God does not abandon His people in the midst of opposition. He preserves them, protects them, and delivers them from the schemes of the wicked.

Life is filled with challenges, and sometimes people may become your enemies even when you have done nothing wrong. Do not allow that reality to discourage you. Continue walking in love, continue doing good, and continue taking prayer seriously. The Lord is your defence, your shield, and your reward. As you remain steadfast in Him, His protective hand will continually rest upon your life. Shalom!

PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your protective hand over my life, my loved ones, and all that concerns me. Thank You because You preserve me from the plans of the wicked. Help me to walk continually in love, prayer, and righteousness. I refuse to become bitter because of the actions of others. I remain seated with Christ far above all the works of darkness. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
