JOHN 16:13
“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
KEYWORD: As believers, God desires that we do not walk after the flesh but after the Spirit.
It is one thing to be saved by turning away from your old sinful nature, believing in Christ, and receiving the gift of salvation. It is another thing to walk in the maturity of sonship by yielding to the leading of the Holy Spirit. As believers, God desires that we do not walk after the flesh but after the Spirit. This is what it means to live in alignment with the Spirit of God.
Alignment with the Holy Spirit begins with a life of complete surrender, where Jesus is not only your Saviour but also the Lord of your life. It is allowing God to take full control of the direction of your life. You consciously lay down your own choices, ambitions, and desires so that you can remain in tune with His leading. You wait for His instruction before making decisions, even in what may seem like the smallest matters. Your desire becomes that Christ takes first place in every area of your life. As John the Baptist declared in John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” You seek His glory above your own desires and ambitions.
The beautiful thing about putting God first in every area of your life is that it ultimately benefits you. Everything God asks of us is for our good. Our obedience does not add anything to Him, but it positions us to experience the fullness of His purpose and glory in our lives. It is only by walking in alignment with the Holy Spirit that we can fully manifest God’s power and abilities.
The importance of walking with the Holy Spirit is clearly seen in the lives of the apostles. Before they began their ministry, Jesus instructed them to remain in Jerusalem until they received the Holy Spirit. When He came and they yielded completely to His leadership, their lives and ministry were transformed, and mighty signs and wonders followed them. This month and the remaining part of the season, walk daily in the consciousness of His presence and leadership, and you will continually manifest the glory and ability of God. Shalom!
PRAYER:
Thank You, precious Holy Father, for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, my Guide, Comforter, and Strengthener. Today I surrender myself completely to His leadership. Help me to follow wherever He leads and to remain sensitive to His voice in every area of my life. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
