PSALM 4:2 “O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing?”

Are you aware that you can become so obsessed with what the world has presented as truth that you become unwilling to see what God reveals in His Word as the actual truth? How many of us have believed the world’s narratives and refused to hear what God says concerning matters that affect our lives? We hold so tightly to things that are fading away or that change with the slightest breath, while despising God’s voice and His Word. You place yourself in great danger when your heart becomes dull to the truth and chooses to pursue vanity instead.
The word “leasing” as used in the opening Scripture means a lie, falsehood, or the act of lying. When you consistently refuse to accept God’s Word and its order for your life, you give Satan room to continue deceiving you. Some people consider certain truths in Scripture too difficult or too demanding, so they would rather remain in the bondage of lies that keep a man walking in darkness and prevent him from becoming all that God has ordained him to be. Others have witnessed God’s mighty works, yet stubbornly deny them and choose instead to hold on to old beliefs that have become strongholds in their lives.
When, as a believer, you hold on to a lie above God’s Word, it is like turning His glory into shame. Lies may offer temporary comfort, but God’s truth is filled with eternal hope and a glorious future. Do not give your affection to vain things or continue pursuing what only entraps you further in a snare. Instead, allow God to have His way fully in your life and bring you into His truth forever.
Shun falsehood. Refuse to be deceived or manipulated by the enemy. Do not doubt the miracles and mercies of God that you have personally experienced. Rather, rejoice in them and be glad that they are available to you at all times. Shalom!
PRAYER:
Father, thank You for Your Word which continually shows me where I have been getting things wrong. My eyes are opened to Your truth, and I willingly turn away from every appearance of falsehood that I have stubbornly held on to. Give me grace to seek Your truth in all matters concerning my life and help me to walk in it daily, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
